Seminars – Coastal Maine Ecology

Eagle Hill offers seminars and workshops for people interested in understanding, addressing, and solving complex ecological questions, focusing on the natural history of the coast of eastern Maine from Acadia National Park to Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge and beyond. Most seminars combine field studies with follow-up lab studies and a review of the literature.  Upcoming seminars include:

Job Opportunities – Summer Science Teachers, MA

The Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve seeks two summer educators:  one to co-direct a 6-week Summer Science School for children entering 2nd through 8th grade from July 5 through August 13; another to work with middle school-age campers conducting biomonitoring on local beaches and assisting with a variety of research and stewardship projects throughout the Reserve, part part of a regional project involving institutions throughout New England.  For more information and to apply, go to this link.

Internship – Marine Education, FL

Smithsonian Marine Station at  Fort Pierce FL is offering a paid summer (May to August) internship to current undergraduates and recent (within 6 months) college graduates in their Ecosystems Exhibit.  The intern will interpret in the gallery and at the touch tank, lead educational programs for school and community groups, assist education staff with three weeks of summer day camp, create educational displays, and other projects according to their personal interests, strengths and/or experience.  For a full announcement and to apply, contact Laura Diederick, Education Specialist (diederick@si.edu).  Deadline for applications is 3/15/10.

Job Opportunity – Summer Programs Educator, VA

The Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia, housed at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester Point, VA seeks a full-time Summer Programs Educator.  This temporary staff person (June through August 2010) is responsible for supporting five summer camp programs for students in 1st-8th grade, including materials coordination, assisting with camp lab and field programs, and supporting other education programs.  For more information and to submit a cover letter and resume, contact Sarah McGuire, Education Coordinator (mcguire@vims.edu).   Deadline for applications is 3/31/10.

Lecture – Green Pharmacy
